Thornleigh is a stylish hidden gem of a detached cottage, surrounded by
a lovely mature large garden. It has a superb situation set back from a
country lane amongst flower filled hedgerows yet close to the surrounding
beaches of Praa
Sands, Rinsey
Cove and Church
Cove. The harbour of Porthleven is close by and St Ives is a short drive of 25 mins.
Local Refreshment Spots
Two very popular choices are the Sandbar at Praa Sands. A fabulous location overlooking the beach, Large windows and a terrace. Welcoming laid back style, caters for all, families, couples, singles, dogs and more. Large open Comfortable surroundings with a retro games area, inc. pinball and air hockey.
The second is the Victoria Inn at Perranuthnoe. Has received several Gold awards from Taste West and Cornwall Tourism. Good food in a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Advisable to book during busy times, great for Sunday lunch. Again welcoming to all.
Towards Helford you will find a choice of good food and local produce, The Shipwrights Arms at Helford is a beautiful old pub in a spectacular setting on the banks of the Helford. Especially good for Sunday lunch or for evening would recommend the steaks from the local butcher in St Keverne. Another notable café/restaurant in the same Helford area is South Café.
Local pubs to Thornleigh
The Crown Inn at Crowntown is the closest pub to Thornleigh at just under a mile cross country walk or just over a mile drive. The Queens Arms is the local village pub at Breage, both of these are CAMRA recognised. Together with The Lion and Lamb at Ashton, these are 3 local pubs all serving pub grub and a selection of local ales. The Ship Inn at Porthleven is a lovely old pub with views over the harbour. Also within 1 mile of Thornleigh is a restaurant The Grove at Sithney.

Thornleigh is surrounded by 3 large estate gardens, the closest are both just over 1 mile. Trevano is a traditional beautiful estate with nice conservatory café and just over a mile away is Godolphin, an interesting and slightly haunting estate owned by the National Trust. They are still working on house but give guided tours on the work in progress
Another National Trust Estate at 2 miles is the Loe bar/ Penrose Estate which is great for long walks round Loe pool to the sea.

Great place for local food is Trevaskis Farm Shop and Gardens, a modern take on a farm and shop with activities for children and pick your own.
If you need to do any more shopping you can continue to the main Hayle A30 roundabout which has an M&S, large Boots and Next. There is a large 24hr Tesco in Helston, a Lidl and a small Spar en route. In the town is Olivers, a deli, butchers and wine merchant. A new large Sainsbury’s has just been built in Helston.
